The Whole Nine Yards.

Hey everyone!
In honor of Rochi I will now tell you all exactly what happened from the beginning.
Here goes:
In the beginning G-d created ...apple..........flood.... between the parts..............sold...slavery ends. Torah............................................... Exile..... Redemption......... Exile....... Redemption.................... Exile............................................................................
..................................................................... golem................... Rivky & Shmuli's wedding..(now we're gonna slow down a little)...1 month...2 months....three...4..5...6....7...8...9....91/2...93/4...???????!!!!!!!! *POP* "It's a boy!!" "Oh no!" (Now begins the narrative from my perspective.)
In the year 2007 the doctor came out of the operating room and said, "The child ingested maconium and we're suctioning it out now, then we'll bring him to the NICU instead of the regular nursery."
Well, I caught a glimpse of the baby as they whisked him away to the NICU, which as far as I could figure stands for "newborn intensive care unit" (my apologies to those who were anticipating a joke there).
The rule in the NICU, which we will affectionately (disinfectionately?) call the nicu, is that while they are doing a procedure no visitors are allowed inside. Therefore it wasn't until 4:30 am that I saw my baby up-close for the first time. At the time he was in good stable condition. They had immediately injected through IV an antibiotic to prevent the remenance of maconium that may still be in the lungs from infecting the lungs and perhaps turning into chas veshalom pneumonia.
They had also hooked him up to an oxygen tank and were supplying him with 50 s. (that stands for the medical term used to measure all kinds of dosages "something-er-another") of supplemental oxygen (room air is 21 s.) and they were monatering his heart and breathing.
by the next evening (that be wednesday) they had lowered the oxygen to 40 s. because Baby Boy Friedman's lungs were getting stronger. They got so strong that thedoctors had decideed to let him try to breath on his own which they afterwards decided was not a good idea yet. They were still injecting the antibiotics.
it is thursday morning the baby is ready to eat orally. They put a sign on his crib that read, "My Mommy is sending milk for me." He wasn't sucking so well, they had to insert a tube into his stomach to send the food down untill he would get better at sucking. (note: better at sucking? oximoron? whatever.) they move the oxygen down to 21 s.
Friday the baby is stable and they watch him as not much changes. The IV comes out.
Shabbos the oxygen comes out, Baby Boy can breath on his own. Baby boy can now start nursing. He's almost ready to go home.
Sunday the discover that Baby boy's blood salt is down. They inject sodium through a new IV. This takes three days. Tuesday the baby is healty again and they want to keep him there for 36 hours just to keep an eye on him.
Wednesday 12pm the doctor decides that the baby is doing so well there doesn't seem to be any reason to keep him any longer. Wednesday night we arrive home!!

The bris will be

Hi, I'm back!

B"H

Hi family!

Yes, it's us. Back and alive from the 'fun' we went thru. Our baby is now sleeping peacefully in an adorable basinet the Friedmans (701) have provided us.

Mommy is amazing, nonstop with shopping and feeding us, making sure we have and will have everything we need. I didn't/don't have to think about anything. To the last detail Mommy has it all organized. Including tips of nursing, sleeping and airing out the room ;)

A Huge thanks to Totty! We can't wait to see you. Thank you for letting Mommy stay with us. There was no way I would have been able to dealo with everything!

As for the Bris, we're hoping for the beggining of next week. We'll know once the mohel looks at our baby.

The nonstop phonecalls were very much appreciated. Keep them coming ;)
As soon as we find the connection piece we'll put some pictures up.

Rochie, he looks a bit like Musia. The big eyes and cheeks, with an alevsky nose ;)

Luv, Rivky

I Remember, Old Memories form my Bubby

I remember my Bubby, when I was young I used to visit her at her home, I knew she was a old bubby and candies over there I would not get, but I would respect here for, she was also my mother’s bubby, and she would not either get candy and not complain so I did not either.
I remember after the long trips I had together with my family, when I used to sleep on the floor but lucky enough it was a carpeted one, under some thin blanket when we used to become very small because we were very high in the sky, and after that long journey my mother used to tell us we are going to visit bubby, so on the night’s before sleep I gave up since we went to visit Bubby.
I remember sometime bubby was not home and we used to find her on the street (just like any other lady) collecting money on the entrance to some big Shul that we were able to go in only with Totty, and my mother used to tell us how special bubby is.
I remember when one time my brother got the hair on his head shaved, and to bubby we went to visit, by the entrance of the Shul we found her with some golden plack in here hand with some black letters written on it, and some bills attached bubby cut some hair off my brother.
I remember when I got even older and I went to visit my bubby, some old ancient story she would tell and some unknown famous song she would sing, together with some blessing to my mother she would tell, and as we left a tear from my mother’s eye left too, because she was also my bubby’s bubby.
I remember when I would walk past 770 cross the street and go to some old broken down building to see my bubby, for me it was old broken down, but for my bubby it was probably a mansion, when to go to her house in her years of mine (now) you would have probably need to cross many streets to get away from some hidden eyes, unlike now when you go to bubby’s house you are taped by some video camera live (shmais.com), and in those years you had to go to the Shul to her house.
I remember the story’s my mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother told me about my bubby, how she raised her children in those years, in the most strongest country in the world, and of the potatoes she used to eat, (some remaining of that I eat now), and how she used to raise the generation’s that came out of her, in these years, in the strongest country in the world.
I remember what I heard how she stood strong and kept her faith go even with the hardships she went through without family support, and without husband support when brutally he was taken away from the warmth of spreading Judaism into the cold night, and he was cold till that very week when he again felt the warmth of Hashem, may Hashem take revenge of his blood, and that strength she gave over to her kids as we saw how they stood strong through the hardships of remembering their loved ones.
I remember the when she stood strong (Tartei Mashma) against people in uniform of another kind on the way to a Simcha (otherwise known to a weding) when she wanted to ask Hashem that he should protect her on the journey (to Cleveland) she is about to take.
I remember hearing all the good things that she did but I just don’t remember them now to write them down.
I remember the last time I went to visit her when she already then blessed me for my wedding, and a second thing she told me (not to be written) all those things I remember and more I am sure that these are things that we all must remember and more.
I remember the last time when I saw her, but not in her house neither sitting at the entrance of 770 collecting money but she went by the place were she used to collect money for and from, I am sure that she had representatives coming in from the country were she was raised and lived and were she raised the generations to come, the country of Russia.
I remember the family that came in that time and you were able to see how with all the generations that came from here how her legacy stays with us, and will stay with us till the one person we hoped she will live to see will come, Moshiach.

The Rabbi is very Busy, Would you Please try another time.

Thoughts that count

I was thinking to myself the other day, that thanks the one above we have a big family KA”H and we have people from all around the world, China Russia Poland Argentina and even Israel, now I mean not only the family that lives in Israel but I mean also to my dear uncles that come from Israel and a big part of the born and even raised in the holy city of Jerusalem, so I decided to dedicate some articles in Hebrew for them, just in case it is hard for them to read in English.

Now you guys have to understand that I have access to the internet on a good week once in 7 days so these articles (from my last one) I just sit in front of the screen and type and when the connection to internet comes I just publish it, so just bear with me in some delays that may be in the articles and hope you enjoy them.
Writing you from behind the iron curtain.

Between Russia’s snow

As I was finishing my last update to some blog that people are just 5 minutes after the article goes up live complaining about articles that are long, I realized that (rochie) you did a great job making the blog and people are constantly looking at it, but just to see that a update came give a comment and continue in their busy life, therefore I was advised by some people (some means one) that maybe I should go into editing, and that got me thinking the only editing that I did so far was to publish books (three to be exact, and one in middle of publishing, to be even more exact, the first book contained over 210 pages the second one around 30 pages the third over 109 and the forth I don’t know yet, as I just wrote I am in middle), but Jewish books, that means learning books, but the one that asked me to go into publishing obviously meant that !?
As you know or should know, (now a lecture in some Jewish stuff so you guys could skip it) there is something called “Bechirah Chofshis” that means G-D gave you the ability to do what you want, so as you would like to think I could either use my talent for the good, what I published till now or go into editing something I did not do till now, anyways enough of the lecture and back to business, the whole point in this blog is to keep family updated so let me tell you I was updated to…
What ever is is already too much writing so I am waiting for your comments, and next time you are planning to read one of my articles (I decided to go into editing) make sure that you have plenty of time because I am going to write a lot.
And let me tell you I already got a comment (overt the phone) that my family find out about me more over the blog than over the phone.

In the midst of Summer

The global warming this year I guess is true, if you guys believe it, I personally don't, cuz you can never know this year summer next year winter, but for some guys that have the real summer they are for sure enjoying it such as The Freedman's in Argentina what ever it is its a beautiful weather in the world including Russia, as you guys know after 4 and a half months of being in prison behind the iron curtain I was let free due to something called mid winter vacation (I don't know which winter the Russians are referring to this year) but whatever the case is I gave a relief sound as soon as passed the border control in Russia because till that happened you can never know there is always surprises and I was not in the mood of any of them, but with Hashems help we left that country.
In the plane on the flight to Kiev (we had a stop over) I did not have time to think to much since it was only a hour and a half flight, but the issue is the that flight was delayed 45 minutes in Moscow and our stop over is only one hour so even that I left Russia we could still have been stuck in Ukraine and you can never know what is better, but we were 6 our group plus a nother few people on our flight that were also going to NY so sure enough our flight to NY was waiting for us in Kiev an extra 45 minutes just for us and as soon as we were on the plane we moved to the free country, and as I sat down on my seat I started to think back to the memories I had in Russia the past months and as I was thinking of them I realized that after all the Russian mentality is pretty interesting (no offence) I am saying different that all other mentality I met with till now and different than all the Russian people I met till now.
We will skip all the thoughts I had on the trip and we will go to the time I landed in America and I realized that its very interesting cuz you guys are thinking that Israelis don't have patient and any time you could get off your plane and seat they would do it ASAP but I saw that Russians are even more experts the plane was still taxing to the gate (and whoever was on a flight knows that you don't get up while the plane is in motion) but half of the plane unbuckeld their seatbelt and got up and started to collect their belongings!, the stewardess started to struggle to seat them down and she succeeded but as soon as the plane came to a halt people that were seated in the back of the plane already came running to the front to leave and even when there were people in the aisle the would not even say excuseme and make their way throw so continuing as I am going off the plane I am thinking: oh welcome home to a normal country and so on, and that's what I thought, as I passed the border control and got my stamp in to united states.
as I am waiting for my luggage other thoughts came in: usually I fly either in the beginning of a year or at a end of a year for a special day but here I came in in middle of a year for no special reason it felt very interesting.
And by then I realized as I am having more contact with normal civilization that Russia (how surprising it may sound) is not that bad and I would not mind going back there! But that was only thoughts.
Continuing in my journey the next morning I was flying in to Cleveland for Moshe Sasonkin bar Mitzvah, and you at the computer how of course is a relative are thinking there were plenty of cousins that came in for the bar Mitzvah what is so special but if you guys ever watched uncle Pinchy you would realize that my coming to the bar Mitzvah was Begeder a far lost cousin from Russia.
So I arranged myself a ride to pick me up from the airport and that was my big bro. Yossi so he could get the car to pick up earlier that morning our dear uncle Mendy zaidy's / Tati's / Shver's Mashgiach From LA (how he I titled) to surprise his family.
Everything went according to the schedule as you guys could see from the pictures is was a very nice bar Mitzvah and I am sure that the Buby of the bar Mitzvah boy will write up a article for the far lost cousins around the world.
I think I wrote to much for this time (how long could you have your eyes on the screen) so I will end of here and hope my next article I would write at the Yeshivah backs at my Shlichus place in Moscow.
Mendy Freedman
P.S. a special Thanks goes to Rebetzin Freedman for helping out with the spellcheck.
